Petralina Rae (she/they)
You won’t find this on my resumé…
Born, raised, and schooled in Utah, I moved to the Big Apple in 2018, and currently live with my spouse and cheesiest kitties Burrata and Brie up in the Bronx, right by the New York Botanical Gardens and the Bronx Zoo—our favorite date excursions.
From an early age, I played pretend in imaginary worlds of magic and mayhem using old family clothes in our “dress-up” trunk as a springboard to imagination.
With very little trans rep around, New-work development has always been my passion, and I will jump at any opportunity to work with new writers or aid in development— in spite of my profound obsession with Ethel Merman and the composers of the Golden Age.
Always making up voices, and imitating my favorite performances, I quickly became obsessed with phonetics upon my first introduction in High School. Building on that, I dove in head first, and ended up team-teaching the accent/dialect classes for 3 years at Brigham Young University.
I speak fluent Spanish because of my two year stint in Santiago, Chile (hmmm…Utah…BYU…two years in a foreign country…what could that possibly mean??)
I speak conversational German, and a bit of Italian, French, Thai, Portuguese, and more because I have been an avid Duolingo-er with a 1800+ day streak and counting.
My obvious queerness was a surprise to me, but I’m loving myself more and more everyday.
